Perfect for large-sized companies with large productivity and low number of operators!
3 Operators
3 MAIN BENEFITS
The three main benefits of Layout 51 CNC are:
The most efficient
and automated layout
This layout is the most efficient of all as it allows the production of 120 bars per hour with three operators due to its large conveyor belts, which enables the automation of the entire processes.
Minimum
installation time
It has the most advanced control system for this class of layouts, but it is also incredibly easy to use. Roller machines and conveyors help reduce the time needed to process bars.
Just-in-time
production
Layout 51 is exactly what you need to keep your assembly process running smoothly, reducing non-valuable handling time for the operators.
LAYOUT DESCRIPTION
Layout 51 consists of three machines, each handling one of the three thermal break assembly processes: knurling, polyamide strip insertion and rolling (or crimping). This machine layout offers a productivity level of 120 bars of aluminum per hour, producing approximately two bars per minute. The difference from other layouts is that it is fully automated and more efficient, making it one of the most popular layouts here in Starlight.
Three operators are required for the following processes:
- Two knurling machines used to knurl the aluminum profiles (two profiles can be knurled simultaneously).
- An insertion machine used to insert the polyamide strips into the grooves of the aluminum profiles.
- A crimping machine used for the rolling or crimping step and ensuring the long-lasting quality of the aluminum profiles with thermal breakage.
Layout 51 is larger and requires more space; however, it holds on being a favorite to our customers, especially those who complete the layout with CNC machines, which meaning all the adjustments are automatic.
It is a perfect choice to produce larger quantities, reduce costs and improve productivity.
MAIN MACHINES
INCLUDED IN THIS LAYOUT
1 – Knurling machine for aluminum extrusions
Easy knurling adjustments, simultaneous automatic knurling and unloading of the two aluminum profiles.
Depending on the customer’s request, the aluminum profile knurling machine can be manual or CNC automated (AS-140-Z or AS-142-Z).
Since there are two knurling machines, the aluminum profiles can be processed simultaneously, before being directed to the next station through the belt conveyor. You can knurl as many extrusions as possible until the retention buffer is fully loaded. The knurling machine increases the adhesion and bonding between two profiles and the polyamide strips, and the belt conveyor automates the process and improves the overall productivity.
2 – Thermal break insertion machine
Easy, automatic and fast insertion of a polyamide strip in aluminum profiles with safety stop.
The thermal break insertion machine can be either manual (AS-242I) or CNC automated (AS-244I), depending on the customer’s request.
In order to achieve the required level of thermal insulation, it is necessary to position the polyamide insulating strips correctly. Our insertion machine allows the exact positioning of a polyamide thermal break, thus ensuring the best thermal insulation.
3 – Crimping machine for polyamide strips
Profile guide for exceptional stability, output conveyor after crimping
The crimping of polyamide strips in aluminum profiles can be either manual (AS221GA) or CNC automated (AS260GA or AS262GA). The latter is considered as an exclusive in the industry since it has eight automated discs for accurate assembling, which is even perfect for long and large profiles.
The wheels of the seamer apply sufficient force to the aluminum profiles to, mechanically, lock the two aluminum profiles together with the polyamide strips into a single unit.
